Fun Facts
- âArrhinoceratops was named in 1925 by Canadian paleontologist William Arthur Parks, who described it based on a single skull found along the Red Deer River in Alberta.
- âThe entire 'no nose horn' name turned out to be a scientific mistake: the nose horn core was simply fused to the nasal bone rather than being a separate piece, which is normal variation in ceratopsians.
- âArrhinoceratops belongs to Chasmosaurinae, the same ceratopsian subfamily as Triceratops, making it a close cousin of one of the most famous dinosaurs ever discovered.
- âIt lived roughly 72 to 68 million years ago, sharing its world with Anchiceratops and predating Triceratops by several million years, meaning the two never actually met.
- âOnly one skull of Arrhinoceratops has ever been found, which means almost everything we know about this dinosaur comes from a single specimen housed at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto.
